National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) is a premier nutrition research institute in India and it works under the likes of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Government of India.

The NIN was initially founded by Sir Robert McCarrison in 1918 in Coonor, Tamil Nadu. It was later shifted to Hyderabad in 1958.

The main mission of NIN is to allow dedicated research for enabling security of food and nutrition that is required for good health, growth, development, and to increase productivity.

There are other centres also which function at the NIN. It includes the Food And Drug Toxicology Research Centre (FDTRC),
National Centre for Laboratory Animal Sciences (NCLAS), and National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau (NNMB).
