In two dice game, the players take turns to roll both dice, they can roll as many times as they want in one turn. A player scores the sum of the two dice thrown and gradually reaches a higher score as they continue to roll. If two dice are thrown simultaneously:
(i) What is the probability of getting the sum as an even number?
(ii) What is the probability of getting the sum as a prime number?
(iii) What is the probability of getting the sum at least 10?
(iv) What is the probability of getting a doublet of even number?
(v) What is the probability of getting a product of numbers greater than 16?

Answer:

first draw the possible outcomes table.

(i) possible outcomes =6×6=36

favorable outcomes = 18

p(sum as an even no)= 18/36=1/2

(ii) possible outcomes =36

favorable outcomes =15

p(sum as a prime no)=15/36=5/12

(iii) possible outcomes =36

favorable outcomes =6

p(sum at least 10)=6/36=1/6

(iv) possible outcomes =36

favorable outcomes =3

p(doublet of even no)=3/36=1/12

(v) possible outcomes =36

favour outcomes =10

p(product of numbers greater than 16)=10/36=5/18
