In two test tubes, having same conditions, yeast cells were grown for 12 hours. In one tube,

cells were grown in presence of oxygen and in another tube in absence of oxygen. In both the

test tubes, yeast cells metabolize glucose to pyruvate through glycolysis. Pyruvate is further

metabolized by the cells.

1.Which test tube can produce more number of yeast cells with the same amount of glucose

and why?

2.In which molecule, the carbon from pyruvate will ultimately be found under both aerobic

and anaerobic conditions?
