  • Answer:world bank uses only the per capita income to compare within countries but UNDP compares by comparing the per capita income, literacy rate and and certain health status such as infant mortality rate.

  1. UNDP has taken education ,health, life expectancy and the important components as the base for development.
  2. it is a broad concept at it takes into account all important components of Human development.
  3. undp has ranked the different components for development.
  4. for example India has awarded 130th rank.

world Bank:-

  1. world bank has taken per capita income as the base for economic development.
  2. it is a narrow concept as it takes into the account only for income as base.
  3. world bank has divided the countries into lower and higher income countries
  4. for example India= lower -middle income group.
