at anode OH- ions are collected because anode is positive  at cathode H+ ion is observe because cathode is negative  OR  The products formed during electrolysis of water are oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) gases.  The electrode reactions are:  At Anode : Oxidation occurs as,  2H2O --> O2 + 4H+ + 4e-   At Cathode : Reduction occurs as,  2H2O + 2e-  --> H2 + 2OH-    Adding all equation, overall reaction is ,  2H2O (l) --> 2H2(g) + 2O2 (g)
