Answer

⚫Resemble with alkali metals

◾It has one valence electron in S-orbital like alkali metals.

◾It can lose one electron to form H ion like alkali metals.

◾It is liberated at cathode during electrolysis of compounds like H2O, HCL etc.

◾It shows + 1 Oxidation State like alkali metals.

◾It is a strong reducing agent like other alkali metals.

⚫Resemblance with halogen

◾Hydrogen is non metal like halogens.

◾Hydrogen forms diatomic molecule like halogens.

◾It has ionization energy high like halogens.

◾ It can gain one electron to form H-ion

\underline{\textbf{Hydrogen\:resemblence\:with\:Alkali\:metals\::}}

• Electromeric Configuration
=========================

They have only one electron in their outer most shell.

» Ex :-

Hydrogen

H (1) ---> 1

Alkali Metal

Li (3) ---> 2, 1

• Valency
========

Each of them have electron Valency 1.

» Ex :-

Hydrogen

H ---> +1

Alkali Metal

Li ---> +1

• Electron positive character
========================

Each of them can form cation by losing 1 electron.

» Ex :-

Hydrogen

H ---> {H}^{+} + {e}^{-}

Alkali Metal

Li ---> {Li}^{+} + {e}^{-}

• Combination with non - metals
============================

Both alkali metals and hydrogen react with non metals and form semi molecular formula of compound they have.

» Ex :-

Hydrogen

H ---> HCl

Alkali Metal

NaCl

\underline{\textbf{Hydrogen\: resemblance\:with\:Halogen\::}}

• Physical state
=============

Both (Hydrogen and Halogens) are in gaseous form.

• Valency
========

Both have Valency of 1.

• Tendency to form anion
======================

They can form an negative ion. As both are good oxidising and reducing agents.

• Metallic Character
=================

Both of them are non - metals.
