Print preview is useful in knowing how the printed copy of the document looks like. Often we check the formatting of headings, page numbers, footnotes, paragraphs alignment etc. Check whether they are exactly like what we want.
Sometimes some parts of the document crossover to the next page, without us knowing. Sometimes we want to middle the whole text or right justify. Sometimes footers do not fit completely.
We want to save paper by not actually printing a document as a hard copy on paper and then checking it. We do print preview and then print only those pages we want to print.
Print preview will be very useful if we are printing book like print out or in multiple columns. When there are tables, it is very useful. We want to make sure relevant parts of the table are in one page.
If the document is long, print preview is a must.
