He forestalled gandhiji in all his movements

His programmes included truth non violence swadeshi boycott prohibition etc which gandhiji preached and followed

He talked of complete independence as back as 1897.

Tilak was the forerunner of Gandhiji
He organised no rent campaign , boycott of swadeshi were preached and practised by him .Tilak worked untiringly for the freedom movement. At the 1916 session of the congress at Lucknow, he was instrumental in formulating the famous Lucknow Pact. It was at this session that all Indian forces of nationalism joined together
