COWS

After getting chewed in the mouth it goes to the Rumen. The Rumen is the main part of a cows four stomachs. The Rumen takes the food through the fermenting process for about four hours, then gets sent back to the mouth. The food gets grinded down so it can be sent to the other three parts of the stomach. The Reticulum, omasum, and abomasum are the other parts of the stomach that perform enzymatic digestion to the food. After it goes through the stomach the food is taken to the gut, where the nutrients is sucked out of the food, and finally out the back door.

HUMANS

Then the food goes down the esophagus which is a tube connected to the stomach. Once it gets to the stomach the food is disintegrated by acids for about four hours. Then the food goes to the small intestine

Cow vs. Human

Humans digestive system is longer than cows

Humans digestive system has enzymes to digest proteins but not cows

Human oral cavity has strong and sharp canines but cows have blunt canines

Humans have four canines but cows have two

Cows have a complex Rumen but humans have a simple stomach

Cows perform regurgitation during digestion but not humans
