Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak was a man of active resistance. He was a renowned Vedic scholar ; he was a man of science; he was a rationalist. He was a pragmatic freedom fighter who used Hindu cultural festivals to infuse nationalism among moribund Indians. Also, he was a man of direct action against the British rule.

In contrast,Bapu was proginerator of passive resistance; he was counseled mostly by his inner voice;he was an avowed pacifist; and, he was a Hindu imbued with Bhakti tradition and sarva dharam sambhav. He was a humanist par excellence. Finally, his approach towards the British was conciliatory and based on dialogue.

Nevertheless, both leaders wete one of the greatest sons of Bharat Mata who lend their soul stirring voices and Himalayan will power to fire the spirit of Indian freedom movement that culminated in overthrowing the yoke of British imperialism.

Shat shat pranam to Lokmanya and Bapu.

Answer:

Bal Gangadhar Tilak forestalled Gandhiji in all his movements. his programmes included no rent, truth, non-violence, swadeshi, bycott, prohibition, etc, which were preached and practised by him. Gandhiji thought that his concept of thinking similar to his and later on started to preach. Tilak also sought close contacts with masses. later even Gandhiji too started mass movement to draw people into freedom struggle.
