The Revolt of 1857 is also called the sepoy mutiny, the Indian mutiny, etc.

  • The common people were the ones suffering the most in this revolt.
  • The Britishers charged heavy taxes and revenues on lands which was not met by the people so they showed their grievances.
  • The Britishers made cartridges made of cows and pigs' fat which made Hindus and Muslims stop using them.
  • People also were against the fact that Indian soldiers were sent far from their homes and they were paid very less for the same.

The revolt of 1857 was a landmark in Indian history that ended up the company's rule in India.
