A magnifying glass, also known as a simple magnifier allows us to enlarge objects so that we can view them in greater detail. It does this by allowing us to place the object even closer to the eye than the near point of that eye, thereby enlarging the angle subtended by the eye with respect to the rays of light. The angular magnification of the magnifying glass provides us with the magnifying power of the lens.
