Before the introduction of colonization, an unclear idea about Hindustan was present in Indians.

At that time Hindustan was spread over many places including Pakistan, Bangladesh, which separated after independence. After independence and partition, Hindustan is known to be the geographical area from Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Rajasthan and Gujarat to West Bengal.

The term Hindustan is still being used and it gives the sense of patriotism.

Foreigner is the word always used for the people who are not from our country.

It is used to refer anyone with different nationality without any negative implications.
