Steel is not a pure form of iron. What does it consist of? What is the advantage of adding another substance to iron?

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. Its advantages are that it doesnt rust like iron. It also has greater malleablity and ductility

steel consist of the iron and carbon mixture it is an alloy of both metals and advantage of adding carbon is that they does not undergo eutectic reaction... hope it helps
