In which countries are vehicles' drivers' seats on the left side? what is the reasoning for this?

All these countries have right-hand drive cars.. Most of them are countries used to be part of the British Empire. The British horsemen would ride on the left side of the road so their right hand would be free to greet(or fight) other travelers on the road.


Whenever there was an option if which seat to sit in, the driver chose the seat closest to the road (right seat in a wagon, later car) so it was easier to see the wheels of passing vehicles (large wooden wagon wheels, later cars).


Reason for left-hand drive is that USA teamsters would sit on the left wagon seat, so their right hand would be free to whip more than one horse at a time.
