Vertebrate animals store carbohydrates in the liver and the muscles, in the form of glycogen. Invertebrate animals store carbohydrates as glycogen too, but I'm not sure exactly where the various kinds of invertebrates put it. Plants store carbohydrates in their roots, leaves, and seeds, primarily in the form of starch.
