In the first very General Election (1951-52), the ballot paper was introduced in India.
Before EVMs (Electronic Voting machines), ballot paper was used in the world in elections. Ballot paper was a piece of paper where the choices of the candidates were indicated and the voter used to choose the symbol of their own candidate. Later all over the world including in India, EVMs replaced the ballot papers.
