India, a country in Asia entirely lies in the Northern Hemisphere. It lies above the Equator (0°) and below the Arctic Circle (66° 30'). The Tropic of Cancer (23° 30') passes through the center of India.

The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of the mainland of India is 8°4′ N and 37°6′ N and 68°7′ E and 97°25′ E respectively.
