Sound travels faster in solids. For eg. If you will place an alarm on the table and ask one of your friend to hear the sound by keeping his ear in contact with the table and yourself standing at the end without the contact you will notice that he/she will hear it first.Same experimemt with the liquids can be done .

Sound travels fastest in solids because the particles of solids are tightly packed and they vibrate fast about their mean position and transfer the sound particles fast.
