Answer:

here's your answer ;

Historians divide the past into large segments—periods—that possess shared characteristics. In the middle of the nineteenth century British historians divided the history of India into three periods: "Hindu", "Muslim" and "British". This division was based on the idea that the religion of rulers was the only important historical change, and that there were no other significant developments—in the economy, society or culture. Few historians follow this periodisation today. Most look to economic and social factors to characterize the major elements of different moments of the past. Historians face many problems while dividing the past into periods. The reason is that there was a good amount of technological development in the medieval period which can be called modern in the contemporary context. Despite that the period is not called modem but medieval. On the other hand, the modern past is followed by the medieval past.

In which part Historians have divided Indian history?

Historians have divided Indian history into three parts...

  1. Ancient
  2. Medival
  3. Modern

Explanation ⦂

Apart from the classification made by the British, historians have divided Indian history into three parts: Ancient, Medieval and Modern. However, even the division of the history of India into these three parts is not accurate because it is much inspired by the West.

The history of the modern period is full of virtues like science, democracy, liberty and equality, so medieval India has been described in the context of a society which did not have the characteristics of modern society. However, each period has its own specialty. Similarly, India of ancient times has its own speciality.

Therefore, it is not a logical attempt to divide Indian history into ancient, medieval and modern parts, as modernity is not based on science alone. Today's features which have been described as the achievements of the modern era have been governed by freedom and equality, so the characteristics were not there during British rule, so the definition of the modern period does not fully justify itself.
