The Bhonsles were the most important warrior clan of the Maratha Dynasty.

They served as the rulers of Nagpur in Maharashtra.

Raghuji Bhonsle of Bera founded the dynasty in 1730, and King Shivaji emerged as one the most prominent members of the dynasty.

They were one of the most powerful dynasties of the 18th century.

However, after their defeat in the Third Anglo-Maratha War of 1818, they were forced under British suzerainty.
