Red soil is generally found in the states of Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Southeast Maharashtra, Odisha and some parts of Karnataka.
The red soil has a high amount of potash and iron present in it but the content of nitrogen, humus and phosphate is very less in this soil. The pH range of red soil is neutral to acidic which is the reason that it is suitable to grow different varieties of gram, groundnut and some other crops.
