First let's describe what cell division is!
Cell division is the events which consists of various sequences in which the cell undergoes genome duplication and finally gets divided into 2 cells.
So, in the S phase, that is, synthesis phase of Interphase, the quantity of DNA becomes double.
However, the amount of chromosome stays the same.
