Hyderabad is the capital city of state TELANGANA .
Right now hyderabad is the capital of both the state i.e andhra pradesh and telangana but soon Amaravati will be the capital of andhra pradesh and hyderabad the capital of telangana ..
Therefore hyderbad lies in telangana state as its capital city....

Heya,
Hyderabad is currently the capital city of Telengana state.
However, till Amaravati is built perfectly it is the capital of both the telugu states Andhra pradesh and telengana state.
Once upon a time before the division of Andhra it was the capital of combined Andhra Pradesh.
It was ruled by nizams for many years in the past.
