The City of Raipur got the status of Municipal corporation in 1980.

Raipur--The capital city of Chittisgarh is one of the oldest and the biggest city of the state. In 1973, the ULB (Urban Local body) in Raipur was established as a municipality and later it was upgraded to a Municipal Corporation in 1980.  So Raipur Municipal Corporation is one of the oldest Municipal Corporations of the state as well as of India.
