In Ruskin Bond's story, the boy who broke the bank, the person who indirectly broke the bank was Nathu... as it is already mentioned in the title of the story itself..

Answer:

1.In my opinion, Seth Govind Ram was truly responsible for breaking the bank as it was his responsibility to ensure that all the part-time workers were paid their salaries on time. Knowing that the clerk responsible for paying the part-time workers like Nathu, was on leave, Seth Govind Ram should have appointed someone else before he went on his holiday

2.Nathu

NathuAns: It was Nathu who was responsible for 'breaking the bank'. Nathu had complained to Sitaram, the washerman's son, about the irregular payment of his salary. In his idle conversation with Mrs Prakash, Sitaram mentioned that the bank could not its employees.
