Inauspicious things like hemlock tree and a crow cheered his mood and uplifted his spirit.
What does the poet want to show by this?

Answer of this question is truly explained by the summary of this poem. So let's understand!

The name of this poem " The dust of snow " refers to the part of snow fall on Robert Frost, shaken by a crow when he was in a sad mood and was sitting under a hamlock tree. Crow is the symbol of death and fear ; and hamlock tree is a poisonous tree which is considered as inauspecious. These both things represents dark, depressive, sorrowful and negative side of nature. Although being depressive by superstition, they changed the Robert Frost's sad and depressive mood to a joyful one, which is the irony of the poem. He was going to spend his whole day in depression and regret but the dust of snow has saved the part of his day that was going to be ruined. This short event gave writer a new theme of life.

Hope it helps :)
