Answer:
With India's fight against COVID-19 continuing, the Independence Day function at the Red Fort is going to be carried out with extra precautions pertaining to health as compared to the ones held in the earlier years.
While it is important to hold the function commemorating India's successful overthrow of the colonial rulers in 1947 on this day, it will also be marked by a sombre function as the nation witnesses the medical personnel giving it all they have to save lives amidst a raging pandemic.
So what will be the additions and what will be missing from among the regular features this year's function at the Red Fort venue? Take a look at these 10 points that will explain it all: The Red Fort will witness another Independence Day function being held on the morning of 15th August as every year. But the vibrant presence of school children will most likely be absent from the function this year, reports the Indian Express. The decision has not been conveyed officially as yet. But if it is enacted, it seems to have the safety and health of the little ones at heart.
Police personnel will be in PPE kits. Monika Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) told the IE, “This year, children will not take part due to the pandemic, except for NCC cadets. Social distancing will be maintained, staff will be in PPE kits, and there will be a number of sanitisation points."All personnel participating in function and likely to come into contact with the PM will remain in quarantine from August 1 till the completion of the Independence Day function, reported The Hindu. “We have ordered the Delhi police officers and other personnel who will be part of the marching contingents to directly go home after the rehearsal ends. We are taking all care to prevent the spread of the virus during the event. The police personnel will have to undergo medical check-up daily as per protocol,” said a security officer according to The Hindu. Personnel from various departments like the Archaeological Survey of India, Jal Board, Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Police, among others work towards the success of the I-Day function.
