Very little at the time. Some kingdoms in India saw France as a useful ally against rising British power. The politics got no response.

Much later, the ideas that France started spread all over the world.

The British in India in the first half of the 19th century went in entirely the wrong direction, increasing the racial division between Europeans and natives of the subcontinent.
