Answer:
India gained Independence at the stroke of midnight on Aug 15, 1947 with the combined efforts of the national leaders from the extremists as well as from the moderates section of the political parties in the India. At the same time partition of India into India and Pakistan took place. Nearly two million people faced one kind of problem or other due to this partition. Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Prime Minister of India and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel became the home minister who united the small territories into the huge countries which we proudly call as India.
At the time when India gained independence we had lots of problems in front of us. Poverty, illiteracy, child marriage, dowry and bribery and many others. For the span of nearly 14 years when Jawaharlal Nehru served as the prime minister of India he tried to eliminate these problems and was able to eliminate upto a greater level.
Nearly 62 years after the independence of India everything is changed. We have pre-occupied ourselves with such a business that we hardly remember or thank any of the leader who contributed for the independence of the country. We hardly know when to celebrate their anniversary (either death or birth). But why? Are we so selfish? The question is simple but not the answer as we don’t really want to see in ourselves. We really don’t want to know where we are lacking. We are least concerned about the country or about the countrymen. Even a murder in the neighbourhood does not bother us.
