This is because of the different hemisphere in which the two countries lie.

  • as a result of this one of the hemisphere of the Earth is closer to the sun. During the Christmas time the north hemisphere remains slightly away from the sun as compared to the southern hemisphere. As a result of this the southern hemisphere receives more heat from the sun and it is summer season.  whereas the northern hemisphere is comparatively far away from the sun hence it receives lesser amount of rays from the sun and it is winter
