After the revolt of 1857, India couldn't attain freedom. This is because :-
》 The people of India, during the revolt, couldn't come up together because of lack of means of communication.
》 They didn't have adequate weapons.
》 There were many rulers who were on the Britisher's side. and helped to suppress the revolt.
