India is a secular country. The three points which shows that India is a secular state are :

1.  The Constitution of India in its preamble describes India a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular,Democratic Republic.

2.  There is no state religion in India and the state equally treats all the religions of the country. No religion receives any special favors from the state.

3.  There is right to freedom of religion in India. Right to Freedom of Religion is one the fundamental rights in Indian Constitution. It provides every citizen to choose and preach their religion as they like.
