1. groundwater is a water source and used for drinking purpose it is actually over exploited in urban area for domestic purpose and drinking purpose.
2. groundwater is also now over exploited for irrigation purposes especially in green revolution areas of Punjab Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh.
3 after independence main industry or developed along with many development projects. all the exploited groundwater for bodies purpose and often contaminated.
