With the threat to the dolphins of Asia of being extinct as they have already registered their name in endangered list in our country according to IUCN red list in 2006. India’s first dolphin sanctuary, Vikram hila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary, was declared in 1991 over a stretch of 50 km from Sultan Ganj to Kahalgaon in Bihar. The Gangetic dolphins are the National Aquatic Animal of India.
