HI MATE.......

India was unified under british rule as one unit not all the times but during the second world war around the year 1939. The british government agreed to give the Indians the right to rule themselves to some extent. they needed support from India during the world war . The congress party people asked them to leave India free after the world war .also most congress leaders were opposed to hietler, mussolni and the ideology of fascism. the british were willing to give the status of dominion to India under  the british crown soon after the war but in the beginning they thought of India to rule as long as possible. the congress wanted a promise note from british that they will give freedom to India soon after the war but they refused saying that they have to also protect their interests in INDIA.                                                                               THIS IS WHEN INDIA WAS UNIFIED UNDER BRITISH RULE AS ONE UNIT. HOPE THIS ANSWER HELPS U.THANK UUUUUU........

India under British rule became unified. Before the expansion of British in India, this country was scattered in parts in form of princely states. There were a number of small and big princely states. With the advent of British in India, these states became united due to various policies introduced by the British. British made alterations in the territories.

Also British introduced railways which connected the isolated Southern India with rest of the India. Introduction of railways played a major role in bringing the nation together.

The postal and telegraph services were also very helpful in the communication of people from different regions. Through such services Indians felt one and also felt the need of unity.

Printing press and printing of various literary works also did wonders which was a better way to let people of a region know about the conditions and thoughts of other region.

The hunger for freedom also brought Indians together.
