The Indian constitution is both rigid and flexible because the procedure of amendment is neither easy or difficult Actually, India has a federal system
with unitary bias. The Constitution has declared 4 indie to be a Union of States and has provided for federal structure. Powers have been distributed. The central government has been made more powerful and can interfere in the working of the state governments

The jurisdictions of the centre and state have been defined and demarketed. The centres and the states and both have been authorised to exercise powers independently. There are provisions which can change the federal structure into a Unitary 5 one. Amendments can be made only with the consent of,both the centre and the states. A special majority of 2/3 vote is required to amend the constitution.

Thus, it enjoys the advantages of combination of flexibility and rigidity both.
All Constituent. Amendments can be initiated only in the Union Parliament and not in any state legislature.
