Though caste system has a stiff grounds in India but its not appropriate to say that the indian election seem to be totally dominated by caste system. Several condition in the politics and the country very clearly proves that thou presenr in majority but still caste isnt the wholly reason for the candidates being voted. Some of them are :

  • There no single constituency which comprises of the clear majority of one caste. It also a reason which makes candidates look for vast number of caste and to fulfill their needs
  • Also a candidate may win a large proportion of votes from a particular caste but not it an exclusive term. When a caste in termed as vote bank it roughly means a large proportion of the caste not the whole caste
  • In evry election there is a fair chance of change in MLAs and MPs thus proving that people have different choice which changes over time directly defending the fact that caste system is the sole basis of politics
  • Differemt political parties usually send a candidate from a particular caste group if that is considered to be a dominant one. Sometimes two candidate from different political parties but same caste group also fight election thus here people choose not according to caste but according to several other factors too

All these points directly counters the fact that india politics is wholly based on caste system

Hope this help
