During the First World War, the Indian army contributed many divisions and also independent brigades to various Middle East, European and Mediterranean theatres of the war in the First World War.  

There are more than one million troops of India served overseas properly, of whom up to sixty two thousand died as well as another sixty seven thousand were wounded.
