Yes, indian ocean is named after our country because india is the country which has the largest coastal area that is in contact with indian ocean. If we talk about other countries like sri lanka, madagascar, singapore or other countries having regional contact with indian ocean, we see that they have less coastal region area in contact with the ocean as compared to india. Due to this reason indian ocean is specifically named after india rather than any other countries' name.
