The large size of the population and rapid rate of growth results into low per capita income. India is now the world's 3rd largest economy but still at 116th rank for per capita income. Per capita income has increased from the last two decades but due to overpopulation, it is increasing at a very slow rate. Mar 15, 2019

The increasing population numbers and growing affluence have already resulted in the rapid growth of energy production and consumption in India. The environmental effects like groundwater and surface water contamination; air pollution and global warming are of growing concern owing to increasing consumption levels.

Political stability thus builds up confidence among business people to invest in the long term projects for the growth of the economy. Political instability can shake that confidence. Similarly, the attitudes of government officials towards business may have either a positive or negative impact upon the business.
