Martin Luther King Jr's mentor was deeply influenced by Mohandas Gandhi. He was taken away by the principles of non-violence and the Gandhian methodology.

And due to this, MLK went on to follow up with the same principles. He first learned of Gandhi’s concept of nonviolence as a Christian, he connected the Hindu thinker’s words to the Biblical appeal of Jesus to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you".

Hence this is where it all began.
