PROKARYOTIC CELLS :

The term prokaryotic means pro: primitive and karyon: nucleus.

i) These are the cells with no well defined nucleus. They donot have chromatin material enclosed in a membrane. It is scattered in the cytoplasm.
ii) A single length of only deoxyribonucleic acid is present .
iii) They have 70s type of ribosomes.
iv) These cells donot have membranous cell organelles.
v) These include only unicellular microorganisms.
vi) example of prokaryotic cells include : bacteria, Cyanobacteria etc.

EUKARYOTIC CELLS:
eu: true / complete ; karyon: nucleus

i) These are the cells with well defined nucleus with a nuclear membrane.
ii) Several lenghts of genetic material that is chromosomes containing DNA .
iii) They have 80s type of ribosomes
iv) They have several membrane bound organelles like mitochondria, endo plasmic reticulum , chloroplast etc.
v) These include unicellular as well as multicellular organisms.
vi) example of eukaryotic cells are : ameoba , paramacieum, euglena etc.
