The drafting committee of the Indian Constitution was appointed on 29th August 1947 and had seven members. Their names are as follows Alladi Krishnaswami Ayyar, N. Gopalaswami Ayengar, B.R. Ambedkar, K.M Munshi, Mohammad Saadullah, B.L. Mitter, and D.P. Khaitan with B.R Ambedkar appointed as the first Chairman of the committee.
