information about electroplating

..
All types of metals, including gold, silver, tin, zinc, copper, cadmium, chromium, nickel, platinum and lead, can be offered in such a way. Electroplating is similar to electrolysis (using electricity to split a chemical solution), which is in contrast to the process by which the battery produces electrical currents.

⤑The process of depositing a layer of any desired metal on another material by means of electricity is called electroplating.
⤑This is the most common application of chemical effects of electric current.
⤑ Articles to be electroplated should be cleaned thoroughly with an alkali & then with dilute acid to remove dust, grease or deposit on it.
⤑Only DC is to be used.
⤑For reaction, suitable temperature is necessary around the electroplating equipment. Conduction of electricity through electrolyte increases with the rise in temperature.
⤑ Electroplating is used in industry for coating metal objects with a thin layer of a desired metal.
⤑ It protects metals from corrosion.
⤑ It prevents iron from rusting.
⤑ It can make more reactive metals (like iron), less reactive.
⤑Make objects appear shiny
⤑Make objects resistant to scratches.
