Laxmi Lakra the first female engine driver for Northern Railways is from Jharkhand. She comes from a poor tribal family of Jharkhand. She completed her education from a government school and her immeasurable interest in engineering she was awarded a diploma in electronics. Thereafter, she passed the exam of railway board in her first attempt and thus became the first female engine driver for the Northern Zone of Indian Railways.
