The basic tool that Galileo used was a crude refracting telescope. His initial version only magnified 8x but was soon refined to the 20x magnification he used for his observations for Sidereus nuncius. It had a convex objective lens and a concave eyepiece in a long tube

Answer:

Lenses used by Galileo in his telescope:

He used crude refracting telescope

Initial version magnification was 8x, later version magnification was 20x.

His telescope had a convex objective lens and a concave eyepiece in a long tube.

The concave lens served as the ocular lens.

The lens are situated on either side of a tube such that focal point of the ocular lens is same as the focal point for the objective lens
