Properties: Covalent compounds exist as molecules(not as ions), they generally have low melting and boiling point, they exist as liquids or gases at room temp except for urea, sugar etc, They are generally insoluble in polar solvents(like water) but are soluble in organic solvents, they are poor conductors of electricity in fused or dissolved state.

Uses:  makes the diamond hard, strengthens the hardness of cement, covalent bonding can change the ability of ice to melt itself.
