The Bombay Times sought to discover the popularity of various food items and conducted an opinion poll for the same. The results were interesting, with the local favourite Pav Bhaji being preferred by 21% of the people. Pizzas followed closely, at 20% while 18% voted for sandwiches. Another 17% of the people favoured idlis and dosas. 15% of the people swore by vadas. Hamburgers figure on the top for 8% and frankies and rolls were patronized only by 1% of the voters.

There are logical reasons behind the results. For instance, Pav Bhaji was the most popular food because it is a local food that is regularly enjoyed in homes as well. With the area being home to many students and visited by many tourists, pizza is the next favourite food. Sandwiches owe their popularity to the fact that they are easy to make and readily available as well. Idlis and dosas were ranked next, presumably by those preferring healthy food. Traditional vadas followed closely. Only a handful of people seem to be fond of hamburgers, frankies and rolls.

The poll showed mixed results for Indian and western foods, indicating a wide range of preferences.
