Initially Wanda Petronsky is portrayed as a lone child. However, as the story
progresses, Wanda emerges as a very respectful girl in spite of her
poor background. Trace the growth of Wanda Petronski as a girl of substance, as against the
so-called popular girls of the class.

Initially Wanda was dealed like a fun material where so - called popular girls of class like Peggy & her companion used to harass her by nagging her continuously for her dresses as well as shoes.

Wanda Petronski had a fade & shabby but clean dress. She wasn't rich therefore she just imagined of having 100 dresses and 50 pairs of shoes. However others girls, specially Peggy kept nagging her for her imagination.

Every child of class used to think Wanda as a weird girl of class. However as soon as she won drawing contest then children came to know about her hidden talent of drawing & painting.

This respect faced growth when Peggy and Madie found themselves to be in painting for which Wanda had won contest. Inspite of all harassment and sarcasm, Wanda gave Peggy and Madie a special place which proved she was poor only by money, not by heart.
